The British Association of Sclerotherapists (BAS) is delighted to welcome two recent appointments to the BAS Management Board.
Dr Haroun Gajraj is a vascular surgeon specialising in the management of complex venous conditions including varicose veins, thread veins, deep venous thrombosis and their complications. He carries out duplex ultrasound, EVLT (laser), VNUS closure, foam sclerotherapy and micro-phlebectomy at The Veincare Centre in Dorset. Dr Gajraj was in fact instrumental in founding the BAS in 2002 and he was its president until 2012. In addition to his clinical practice he has been closely involved in training for many years, and he delivers a comprehensive microsclerotherapy training course at the Veincare Centre.
Mr Zola Mzimba is a consultant vascular surgeon and registered phlebology sonographer dedicated to venous disease, renal failure surgery and vascular access, practising at the Western Health and Social Care Trust. Mr Mzimba is the Clinical Co-Chair for the Elective Care Centre project in Northern Ireland – an exciting new initiative which is driving down waiting times for routine varicose vein treatment by providing dedicated elective care centres.
BAS President Mr Philip Coleridge Smith comments, “Haroun and Zola will bring zest and great enthusiasm to the organisation, having been keen supporters of the BAS for many years. They share our aims of raising standards and promoting best practice and education in foam sclerotherapy and microsclerotherapy. Haroun brings a passionate desire to foster safety and the highest standards of care, and Zola is an active member of the Irish Vascular Groups and will play a key part in representing their views as well as promoting the BAS to vascular and aesthetic medicine practitioners in both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.”
The British Association of Sclerotherapists is the professional association for UK and Ireland practitioners.
